1. Wilhelm Wundt: Founded the first psychology laboratory at the university of Leipszeig in 1879. Conducted many of the first psychological experiments. 2. William James: Taught at Harvard starting in 1873. Is known for his many theories. 3. Ed. Thorndike: Best known for his work in psychometrics. Tried to figure out how people and animals learn. |
4. Freud: Specialized in nervous disorders. He worked as a psychoanalysis.
5. BF Skinner: Best known for his work on operant conditioning. Worked with behavior modification. 6. Mary Calkins: Best known for self psychologies. She published four books and hundreds of papers about psychology. 7. Alfred Binet: Partially responsible for the creation of the IQ test. Studied Physiology. 8. Ivan Pavlov: A Russian psychologist. Developed the theory of classical conditioning. 9. Harry Harlow: Best known for his “monkey studies.” He showed babies need physical contact with their mothers to survive. 10. Elizabeth Loftus: She studied how witness testimony is not the best form of evidence because of confabulation. |
